The University of Miami

As a high school student gets closer to the time to select from the many colleges and universities that offer a higher education, there are certain aspects of the future education that should be considered. One important factor of a potential institution of higher learning is its location. A great choice for a student that would like to enjoy their education along with a little sun and fun would be a beach college that is located next to an ocean. Of the options that fit this criteria, none offer such a full package as the University of Miami, with a campus that is only a stone’s throw from the beach.

From the academic side of things, the University of Miami offers a number of degree programs with first rate professors. Over 15,000 students are enrolled in the colleges of the university, with the majority either being involved in the medical or law schools. In addition, a person that has interest in a water related course of study will find that the there is an oceanography and atmospheric sciences program that is considered to be one of the best of its kind in the country. In total, the University of Miami gives students the choice of 115 undergraduate degrees that can be obtained.

Along with the academics, a student will have no problem finding entertainment options on and off campus. The sporting teams of the university use the Miami Hurricanes moniker and many of them are contenders for the national title in their respective sports. As for the beach, the weather is good nearly all year and all types of water activities can be found on the golden sand. The combination of world class academics in the beautiful setting of a beach college make the University of Miami a fine choice for a student that would like to stay close to the water.
