University by the Sea is produced by Smolarcorp, a web design and creative production firm located in downtown Long Beach's historic Ocean Center building.

Smolarcorp and its staff have produced numerous events including the 2007 East Village Arts District's Tour des Artistes and Book by Authors, a published compilation of 50 short stories by Long Beach writers, to benefit the Long Beach Public Library Foundation.
